//About Abby//

Abby Elliott
Dog Trainer & Behavioralist

Abby has had dogs in her life since she was five. All of her dogs were rescues, and at an early age, she knew she had a strong connection with all animals. She has an extensive background in the veterinary field, where she spent many years honing her knowledge and understanding of dogs. Although she was initially taught to use leash "corrections," any kind of leash jerking felt inherently wrong to her. Abby then pursued all positive reinforcement methods, from food rewards to clicker training, and the results were clear: dogs loved being trained!

Abby was also a dog nanny to Ozzy Osbourne's pack of dogs. They were kind enough to let her adopt one of the Chihuahuas named Boris. Abby trained Boris to become a certified Pet Partners therapy dog, and together, they volunteered at the cancer center at Cedars-Sinai for ten years. They would also visit various nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Abby can help you train your dog in various areas, including Basic Manners, Potty Training, In-home Dog Training, Puppy Training, Fearful Dogs, Therapy Dog (no Service Dog) training, Behavioral issues, Jumping, and Digging. She also served as an evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen test. Abby is CCPDT-KA certified and a member of AAPT. She lives in Los Angeles with her Chihuahua, Twinkie.

What kind of dog training education and experience do you have?

What training methods and philosophy do you use?

I am strictly a positive reinforcement trainer! I don’t believe in ever using anything harsh or mean on a dog. It’s not okay to be mean to dogs or any animals. They have no voice, and dogs do so much better with a kind, positive, and fun trainer! Sometimes, dogs want to follow me home!

Is there an initial consultation?

Yes, there is always an initial consultation, especially for behavior modification issues. During that same session, I also begin working with your dog.

How much does training a dog cost?

The cost varies depending on your specific needs. Are we looking to address basic manners or tackle a fear-related issue? Once we connect and identify your requirements, I’ll gladly provide details on the three different packages I offer, along with their respective prices.

What professional certifications or memberships do you have?

I am CCPDT-KA certified, and I am also a member of the AAPDT.

Are there certain dog breeds that you specialize in?

I know a little more than most about Chihuahuas because I’ve had two! However, I have worked with Goldens, Doodles, Wheatens, and mutts. While certain breeds have specific characteristics, they all respond positively to kindness.

Do you make learning fun for my animal?

Absolutely! It’s a fun and rewarding experience for everyone!

Do you have references?

Certainly, please refer to my veterinary referral section above.
